​Environmental Policy

Golden Castor has focus on the following environmental activities:

  • Use of local purchase to reduce packaging and emissions from transportation.
  • Paper, glass, plastic, steel and aluminium will be collected for reuse.
  • Use of biodegradable cleaning products.
  • Waste food will be given to the animals in the National Park.
  • Leave the grass grow to optimize Biodiversity.
  • Maximum use of waste systems for reuse.
  • Use of limited tilling to achieve the best level of organic matter (humus) in the soil.

Energy

  • Natural air is used when possible, instead of air conditioning.
  • Solar energy is used to produce electricity.
  • All SUV cars are diesel cars and all equipped with particle filters of the highest EU Standard.
  • Clothes are dried outside.
  • Low watt fluorescent light bulbs are used.
  • Automatic switch off lights are used in all rooms.

Water

  • Use of biodegradable cleaning products.
  • Use of low flow faucets and showerheads.
  • Use of biodegradable laundry detergent, dish soap and hand soap.
  • Use of our own water drilling for drinking, cleaning and bathing.
  • Use of rain water for toilets.
  • Use of rain water for the plants.
  • Use of septic tanks.

Recycling and waste

  • Land and nature conservation
  • Bee hives are used for pollination
  • Remaining trees from land clearing are given for local firewood
  • Around the whole farm the natural trees are still there. Especially the Neem tree which produces nectar for the bees. This is to prevent a monoculture and to secure the biodiversity. The farm is continuously developed, so the field width is max 600 meter.

Community

  • Staff residing near the farm are privileged as team members.
  • Local suppliers are used as much as possible, also to reduce packaging and emissions from transportation.
  • Golden Castor strives to have disabled persons to work on the farm

Health and safety

Golden Castor is committed to:

  • Provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Provide security shoes for free to all team members.
  • Provide training for team members to avoid any personal injury.
  • Not to use any chemicals.
  • Make smoking not possible.
  • Make drinking of alcohol not possible.
  • Pay all hospital bills, also for family members

Social Responsibility

Golden Castor has a social Responsibility Program as follows:

  • Team Members are checked once a month by a certified public doctor.
  • Team Members have their medical bills paid.
  • Team members have access to bathing facilities.
  • Team members will get security work clothes and boots against snakes.
  • Team members have a shareholder’s program.
  • Close cooperation with unions about best practice.
  • Team Members have an ECO bonus system.
  • Physically challenged people are supported.
  • Orphans are supported.
  • Local hospitals are supported.
  • Schools are supported.

Governance

  • Golden Castor wants to have an open style, telling the full story.
  • Facebook is used to tell the full story of what is going on.
  • Golden Castor has a zero tolerance for corruption.
  • All responsible activities to be reported in the annual report.
